This is great! Who doesn’t want to go back to see the Spice Girls. That was such a great time in our lives! Also, seeing Martin Luther King’s speech would definitely make me appreciate things that we only learn about in our history books. I loved your list and I agree that I wouldn’t go back to change things but to live something that we can only dream about.

http://theprinceway.wordpress.com/2012/02/23/time-travel/#comment-21

Leanna Luckett

I think it is interesting to read everyone’s ideas. I love this time period and would definitely observe such a different lifestyle than we live today. I also put in my blog that I would not want to change history. I think that I put this because it is scary to think how one small event can spiral to a huge change in the future. Plus it always seems like such a disaster in the movies!!

If time travel were possible, what would you do? Where would you go? Why did you choose to visit there? If you were to go back in time, would you worry about how one small change could affect the future?

Time travel seems so real when I watch TV or movies. However, it is something that humans only dream of in reality. I think that the concept of time travel is really interesting but I feel like it would be so hard to pick one moment I would want to go back in time to experience. If there were no dangers or chances I would mess up the future, I think that it would definitely be something I would do. Oh, and I would want to come back to the present time whenever I was ready. I would probably want to go back to a time that I was not yet born for. The 1960s would definitely be an interesting time to go back to. First off, my parents would just be being born through that era and I think it would be really funny to see them as young kids. I would want to visit a time when music seemed to influence people on a different level than it does today and people had such a free mind-set. I think that there were a lot of changes occurring during this time and lifestyles were changing because of it. I think that any time period would be “interesting” to go back to because we only learn about them in our history books. We don’t know what it was like to actually live it.

I would be nervous to go back in time if I had the slightest chance of messing up the future. I would not want to come back to the present time and my life be completely different. That is something that only happens in movies! That would be a nightmare. I guess if my life was a disaster beforehand, I wouldn’t care, but I am sure that I would not want to jeopardize the future. Time travel will always be something that we see on TV but it is something that makes us think…

Kathleen Brown:

I can definitely relate to your blog! I don’t like how single people feel the need to cry about it on Valentine’s Day. I was so busy this past holiday that I barely thought about it. I have been in a relationship once on Valentine’s Day and it wasn’t even that great! haha! My parents usually send me little presents too which always puts a smile on my face. I think that on this day we should acknowledge people we love and care about regardless of it they’re our significant other or not!

http://kathleenpbrown.wordpress.com/2012/02/15/valentines-day-shmalentines-day/#comments

Jasmine Poolson:

These are really good ideas! I had a hard time thinking about this question for some reason and I wish I thought of something as good as yours. I especially liked the customized chocolates idea. That is such a cute gift and I think it would be very popular on this holiday. Girls would love it if they’re boyfriend/husband came home with special, customized candies for them. I know I would! I think that having great deals on Valentine’s Day gifts would also attract customers. Most presents at stores are all about the same, so people would go for the cheapest price they find. Great ideas!
http://gaawgeous89.wordpress.com/2012/02/15/pr-on-valentines-day/

This Valentine’s Day was not one I will remember in a good way. As most of my friends went out or hung out with boyfriends, I sat in the library studying for an exam. Not a particularly great way to spend my night. However, I didn’t sulk about it. In the past I have a had some great Valentine’s Days and not so great ones. My freshmen year in college I remember I went home to see my boyfriend at the time. It was just my luck that the weather was terrible and he couldn’t come. So I would say that on that Valentine’s Day I got the worst gift, NOTHING! It wasn’t the end of the world though and I don’t think I let him know that it bothered me. Last year was the most fun Valentine’s Day I have ever had. I went out with my friends, had some fun, and received a cute gift from my family! I didn’t get it until a month later though because it got lost in the mail! Valentine’s Day has its ups and downs I guess!

I think that this holiday is promoted so much that people feel pressured too make sure they get roses and a teddy bear they will never use again. If I worked for a greeting card company, florist or chocolate manufacturer I would try my hardest to make customers come to us. I would persuade people to come to us by going above and beyond with advertisements. I would make the prices very desirable and put a lot of coupons in the paper. I think that because people can go pretty much anywhere to get some of these items, a company just has to go crazy with advertisements! This holiday is probably as big as it is because of companies trying to promote their products. It is interesting how people get so into such a holiday like this, when I bet people would be just as happy without all the gifts!

Talking behind my back is definitely something I agree with! I feel like everyone is guilty of it at some point or another but when you really sit down and think about it, there is really no point. Lying is another thing that bothers me too. I feel like people don’t lie to me that much, and if they do, it normally is so stupid that I could care less. However, if it was something important and mean, I would definitely be mad. On the topic of eating my food, I think for me it all depends. In my apartment, we all buy our own food but will randomly share. If people ask, I normally don’t care. I think it is a courtesy thing. If it gets out of hand and people are abusing their rights, I would be upset. These are all good examples of pet peeves because I had a hard time thinking of some!

These made me laugh! Some I agree with and some I feel like I have caught myself doing!! I agree with the music thing! It drives me nuts because I feel like the people are intentionally trying to drive people crazy by drawing unnecessary attention to themselves. I also agree with people being to loud and breathing too loud. So annoying! The ones that made me laugh were popping knuckles and smacking gum. When I was younger I would always pop my knuckles and it drove my mom crazy. Eventually she told me that my knuckles would get so big I would never be able to wear rings, so I stopped! Also, when I go home and I am chewing gum my family always says I smack it. I don’t know if it is something I do only around them, or if my friends don’t care to tell me!

I have a lot of patience with most people and I think I am a pretty laid back person. I don’t really get mad at people and it takes a lot for me to get extremely irritated. However, I do have a few pet peeves that really get under my skin. I can’t stand it when people are really bad drivers. I don’t think I am the world’s best driver or anything, but it is hard for me to put up with it when I am in the passenger seat! It’s not like I am the meanest person though when I drive with bad drivers. I normally keep it to myself. Another pet peeve I have is when teacher’s would accidentally scratch the chalk board. Even thinking about this gives me the chills. It is extremely difficult for me to ignore this screeching noise. To add to my list, I can’t take it when people act really fake when I know how they really act. I know people who act one way in front of some people, and another way in front of others. This drives me nuts!

I am sure that there are some more things that annoy me but nothing that significant. It actually took me a while to think of some things, so I feel that I don’t have that many pet peeves. I feel like there are some people out there that get too frustrated and pin point every little thing people do. I actually know some people who seem to get crazily annoyed with little things. I don’t think that is a way I would like to live because people spend too much time complaining, rather than living their own life. However, pet peeves are hard to avoid, and everyone has them…

Patty Feole
I like how you said how you assumed that most people read Harry Potter and Twilight before watching the movies because that is exactly what I was thinking too! When I was blogging about this topic I think that I was thinking about similar books and movies that you mentioned. All the Nicholas Sparks books I saw the movie first. I haven’t even read all of the books. I did read some of the Lemony Snicker books but I don’t think I ever saw the movie. I guess that is something I could catch up on! I still think that when it comes down to it I would like to read the book before the movies because I think that they are better. However, like you said, it is hard to read when I have such a busy lifestyle. I barely have time to do everything that I do already so I can’t imagine adding reading into that! I think that it is so pathetic that this is what my life has come to, but I think that in the future I will find time to read more!

Emily Glass
Reading your blog made me remember how much I loved reading Jodi Picoult books. I went through a phase in high school where I read a handful of her books and became OBSESSED! I loved “My Sister’s Keeper” but didn’t see the movie yet! I don’t know if I want to now that you said it is so different. I think it is so interesting that you never read Harry Potter because those are the main books I read before watching the movies. I read the books as they came out so I would be ready for the movies! I obviously loved the books better, but the movies were extremely entertaining as well. I still stick with my idea that reading the book is usually better, but that is not always the easiest thing to do. With the lifestyle I have in college, it is hard for me to fit reading into my schedule. I thought that this was a very interesting topic to blog about and thoroughly enjoyed reading people’s thoughts and ideas about what they prefer.

Over the years I have read many books that were eventually created into movies. I feel like for the most part I would read the books then watch the movies because you always hear, “the books are better than the movies”. I think judging by my own personal experience I definitely agree with this statement. For example, I read all of the Harry Potter books before I watched the movies. Obviously I love the movies however; the books are so much more intriguing to me. It is kind of funny to think about what I thought in my head before I saw the characters and places in the movies. Everyone makes up their own vision of what they think about when reading the books. I think that is one of the draw backs when it comes to watching the movies after the books because you lose your own vision. I am not against watching the movies at all; I just prefer the order of reading before watching.

Over the years I have read a lot of books that have turned into movies. Like I said earlier, the Harry Potter series is one example. That is probably my favorite book to movie adaptation. Twilight is another example. I remember being in high school and being obsessed with the books. I would sit in class in the back just so I could read. I think the movies are definitely not as good as the books. I have watched them all but I prefer the books for sure. Other than these two series I haven’t read that many books before the movies. I have done the reverse order however. I saw “The Help” and really want to start reading the book. I also watched “Dear John” and then read the movie. All of these books and movies I loved at the time and am glad with the order I did it. It is definitely interesting how the movies and books are created after the other!

Ali McConnell
I really like your bucket list! It is definitely diverse with many different ideas and experiences. I watch the Macy’s parade every year and I think it would be really cool to go to that too. I also think that going to Australia would be amazing! I have always loved it and think it would be a wonderful experience to go. My friend just went there and said it was great!! I forgot to put on my list to go to a Falcon’s game. You talking about being a Steeler’s fan really made me want to go to a pro football game! Skydiving however, does not appeal to me at all! I think it would be a great experience, but I would definitely panic more than I would have fun!

Gina Missini
These things are really interesting and have given me some ideas as to what I should add to my bucket list. I like the idea of traveling to famous landmarks. I also like the backpacking idea as well. One thing on your list however, really freaks me out! That is skydiving. A lot of my friends have done this and want to in the future, but it does not appeal to me one bit. I am terrified of heights and am not a huge fan of planes. I feel like the combination of both would make me freak out rather than enjoy the experience. I think that you have a really good bucket list, especially the part about getting married and starting a family. I feel like that is definitely the most fulfilling thing!

There are many things that I would love to do in my life that I have yet to accomplish. My bucket list consists of traveling to foreign countries at some point. However, I am very scared of planes so it is kind of a problem! I also want to get a really good job that I love and truly enjoy. I want to be successful with something I actually like doing. I want to go scuba diving in the great barrier reef as well. I also would love to go to New York City and LA. I have been to a lot of states, but never to either of these cities.

I would also love to get married and have kids. I have grown up with a large extended family so I feel like that would be such a wonderful thing to start myself. Family means a lot to me and I know it always will. I also love meeting new people. I hope that in my future I make a lot of wonderful friends to add to what I already have!
